How to: Clear your Affirmation Deck

It all begins with an idea.

Hello and welcome! In this blog post, we’ll share our favourite tips on how to clear and cleanse your affirmation deck. Please know, it’s not completely essential and you can dive straight into your new card deck. If we haven’t lost you yet (lol) and you’re down for some energetic cleaning - please keep reading!

If you ask any intuitive reader or long-time oracle deck lover, they’ll tell you they clear and cleanse their card decks on a regular basis. Why? Because it clears old/stagnant energy and helps create a stronger connection with your cards.

Science tells us that everything is made up of energy and your card deck is no different. Before it’s even arrived in your mailbox, it may have absorbed the energy from the manufacturing facility to the many hands that handled it along the way. So by clearing its existing energy, you're starting your affirmation practice with a clean slate, with a card deck specifically programmed to you and your energy.

Here are 4 ways to cleanse your affirmation deck:

  1. Knock on your deck 3 times, then shake the deck away from you. While doing this, visualise old energy falling from the cards. This is our favourite, go-to method.

  2. Do a smoke cleanse. Light a dried herb bundle and waft your affirmation deck in smoke. Be sure to keep the flame at a safe distance! You can find cleansing sticks in your local health shop or can make your own using dried rosemary or lavender. Note: Please be respectful of indigenous cultures by avoiding white sage and palo santo, which are scarce resources that are used in sacred practices.

  3. Place your card deck under the full moon. We recommend placing your deck on a windowsill or veranda where it can’t get wet.

  4. Place a crystal with cleansing properties on top of your affirmation deck. The best crystals to use are selenite and clear quartz.

Once you’ve cleared and cleansed your affirmation deck - it’s time to use it! Simply hold your cards on your heart and ask for the best card for you right now. Read the affirmation and really feel and believe it. Put your card on display where you can see it throughout the day and repeat the words as necessary.

Happy dreaming!

Use journalling to deepen your affirmation practice

It all begins with an idea.

Affirmation cards won’t create change in your life - but taking action because of them can!

That’s why we love incorporating journalling in our affirmation practice. Journalling helps you go a little deeper and really think about the steps you can take to make your new affirmations / thoughts a reality.

Here’s how you can do it at home:

  • Firstly, pick the affirmation card you want to work with.

  • Then, ask yourself - How can I feel more_____? What activities make me feel ______?  What actions can I take to make my affirmations a reality?

Here’s an example of journal prompts we’d create for these two affirmations:

I am calm and free. Through my breath, moments of peace are available to me at all times.

  • When do I most feel calm and free?

  • What activities calm my nervous system? Can I make time for at least one of these each and every day?

  • What’s one action step I could take right now to feel calm & free?

I love money and money loves me. I am worthy of an abundant, rich life and am actively taking steps to invest in my financial future.

  • What is my relationship with money?

  • What would an abundant, rich life feel like?

  • How can I start investing in my financial future?

  • What are my short-term and long-term financial goals?

  • What 3 actions can I take this week to feel more financially secure?

We hope these tips inspire you to give journalling a go. Remember, it is through action that change begins.

Here’s to living your most radiant life!

The science behind affirmations

It all begins with an idea.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.

Meet our Illustrator

It all begins with an idea.

The I am Radiant as F**k! Affirmation Deck was designed & illustrated by Brisbane-based creator Liana Wright. She is incredibly talented, inspirational and just a cool human. The brief for the card deck was women in nature who feel radiant, proud and free in the skin they’re in. She smashed the brief and interpreted the affirmations so beautifully.

We asked Liana a few questions so you can get to know her better.

1. First things first…what’s your big, scary, exciting dream?

I have this dream of using my art to build a community of people around the world who have a daily mindfulness practice of experiencing the wonder and beauty in the ordinary moments of everyday life; no matter their current circumstances. It’s called We Bloom Wild. I have so many big ideas around this concept that I want to bring into fruition, now to build the foundations and gather the courage to make it real.

2. What is something you’d love to do if you didn’t give a f**k what anyone thought?

I would love to take off into the bush for a couple of weeks - just hiking and meditating and creating. Just experiencing nature and the journey with no particular outcome to strive for.

3. When do you most feel like ‘you’?

When I’m by myself on a spontaneous nature adventure - exploring a new forest or going for a dip in a waterhole. It makes me feel like a kid again - just going with it with what I have in that moment.

4. What’s your favourite card in the affirmation deck and why?

This is a tough one! I have quite a few favourites. Hmm…I think my favourite favourite one is “I am strong enough to withstand any storm. I am resilient enough to pick myself up again. I am brave enough to trust all will be OK.” There are always stormy times in life and those times where things feel out of control - it is always happening for the next best thing to reveal itself but it can be tough being in it! I love this reminder of being resilient and being brave and trusting that the rainbow is waiting on the other side. I also just love the confidence of this woman - she knows that committing to her dreams requires going through the challenges and she’s not afraid to face whatever comes at her because she has the tools to move through the uncomfortable times with grace.

5. Do you have any practices or tools that help you connect to your intuition?

Yes, I have so many tools that I turn to and work into my life as daily rituals to connect with my intuition. Some of the top ones I return to again and again are breathwork, yoga, journaling, hiking, essential oils and connecting with nature through my senses. I’ve been going to these incredible events regularly that my friend runs - it’s a mixture of cacao ceremony, breathwork, ice bath and sauna - these always give me  time to drop into myself and remember what’s important to be right now. I think any practice that helps the busy outer world drop away and reminds me of what I value and my intentions are so powerful.

6. What does success feel / look like to you?

Success to me looks like…

  • Getting to do all the things I love on a regular basis

  • Having the time and space to enjoy my family and loved ones

  • Having the time to give my body, soul and spirit the nourishment it deserves

  • And getting to go on regular adventures (camping or hikes! Anything to do with nature and exploring somewhere new where I’m showered with magic moments hiding in the everyday surroundings).

Liana is a Brisbane-based animator, illustrator, designer, dreamer and explorer. Over the past decade she has enjoyed working in the creative industry on explainer videos, character design, storyboarding, animation, comic books and production management with a highlight being working on the award-winning show, Bluey (and new highlight working on this gorgeous card deck!). She is passionate about exploring the relationship between humans and nature; and creating art that brings people joy and sparks a thought. You can support and follow her work here.
